D ring/ Shackle mount question

I have a 2008 overland with the tow hooks, and i would like to replace them with the shackle mounts and d rings. I see a ton of people doing it with 05 laredos. i understand the front end is different on my jeep compared to those, is there any way i could still manage this switch or would it not work/look stupid?

I believe the mounts are the same. The Steel Armadillo makes a set; you provide your own D-Rings though

Yes, they should bolt on and off pretty easily.. Don't even have to remove the bumper if you have the right tools. 4XG has some as well. These are mine..

Not sure about removing the tow hooks and replacing with D-Ring mounts without removing the bumper but not a hard job in any case. Keep in mind however that most bull bars use the same mounting holes so in many cases you can't have both.

I have the ones by SA and very pleases but might also look at the ones by 4xGuard as they stick quite a bit farther out front but are more $$.

I had to remove the bumper cover (super easy, takes less than 5 min) because 2 of the nuts for 2 of 3 mounting bolts are accessed behind the bumper cups (don't know tech term) as can be seen in this photo. One of these cups is on the cardboard below, and you can see where they were mounted. Inside that hole is the top side of the mounting brackets. If SA or 4xGuards brackets use the same 3 factory holes, I have no idea how you would properly secure them without removing the bumper cover.

I like yours.. Are those the SA ones? I definitely did not remove the bumper, just used a 3/8" extension on a ratchet to get those nuts on and a little finessing of the brackets. It is probably a lot easier with the bumper off though; I'm just scared to pull of plastic rivets (I break em every time lol)

I found a guy on here and FaceBook that fabs them himself. $120 powder coated and shipped, with shackles included. I swapped his supplied cheap shackles for a higher quality, but I love them. I can PM you his email if you or anyone are interested. He makes 5-10 sets at a time, sends them to a powdercoater after who finishes them. Pretty sure he'll do $100-110 raw without the powdercoat.

Dang that's a good deal! Yeah I'd get my own d-rings anyways, but that's cool. I remember thinking how cheap those brackets would be to fab up.. good for him. I'm good, but maybe some others could benefit from the link.

The ones I got from Facebook are solid steel, super heavy duty, perfect welds, really high quality. I couldn't be more pleased, and have used them for pulling/recovery already. As good if not better than what companies are selling IMO.

The shackle mounts are beefy, he included some cheap shackles, that were cast poorly, so they had a ridge at the seam that didn't fit into the hole in the mount. So I ditched them and got a new set of shackles online that are perfect.

Thought I should clarify my last post above. Mounts are beefy and awesome, his cheap-o supplied d ring shackles were cheap. But for $120 shipped, all hardware, powder coated mounts, and shackles, you can't beat that.
