Can anyone comment on if these glow plugs are a user serviceable part? I would consult the shop manual to see how painful it is but cant find a affordable one for the CRD. Did a quick search here on the forum and didn't find where anyone had done it themselves.

I would think that they have a certain life time, once you lose one they are all at risk as its a function on how the vehicle has been driven / started / maintained. So, it would be wise to do it yourself replacing all 6 of them. But, I am a novice so I could be wrong.

Does climate play a role in their lifespan? I live in Phoenix, and usually never suffer sub freezing temps. I have never had to let the glow plug light go out, it stays on as long as the other lights test for on power on (less than 2 secs).

My gut told me not to get a CRD even though I loved the test drive. I decided on Hemi vs. CRD when they informed me that the Lifetime Powertrain Warranty was not available on the CRD and that I could not even get a Lifetime Zero-Deductible Service Plan on the CRD. Hemi it was by default...not by choice.

If they don't snap off. Be very careful when changing.

yeah, at that price seems like a good idea if you intend on keeping the vehicle for a while.

seems to me there was a "glow plug removal tool" I read about too, maybe it was on ebay.

Thanks for the heads up Merlin...I have not ordered and will wait.

I did however find this online...it shows engine part #s forthe 2007 sprinter....and it does have the exact same Mopar part # you mention above.

That is the exact link I ordered from and replaced one of my GPs with. Could it be a part number superceed? I can't find an on-line x-ref.

Sorry... Rocky Mountain. I get all my BMW and CRD parts from Art. Never had an issue.

FWIW, I used 2007 Mercedes ML320 (CDI) for my criteria.
