First I would like to thank all who posted here about Safety Recall N23 and all it's issues and links to documentation. As others have said I should have looked here first. But I have some good news. I had it done last August and, of course, when I tried to check out 4WD low after the first snow it would not lock in and showed the "service 4wd system" message. After reading over everything I could find here I armed myself with copies of complaints, the dealer pdf service instructions and went to the dealership. I have a 2008 GC Limited with no warranty. They had the vehicle over night during which time they were in contact with Jeep. They called this morning to inform me Jeep will replace the actuator to correct the problem at no cost to me
I don't recall if they actually admitted it was to fix the fix but I wasn't about to rock the boat. The actuators are on back order, probably because Jeep is doing this a lot? I'm happy mine will get fixed and kudos to Northtown Jeep in Tonawanda, NY
PS: It's still a big pain in the butt and time consuming on our dime.
To those contemplating a trip to the dealership I don't think
it hurts to take some documentation with you
