Check engine light up solidly after oil change

I changed oil on my 2008 grand cherokee 3.7 Laredo last Friday. I drove for 20 km without any problem afterwards.
The next day, as soon as I turned on the car, the check engine light was on.
I checked around and did not find any thing wrong. Now, the light kept on all the time whenever I drive.
I am totally confused because I used Mopar oil and filter, follow the same procedures as usual. Anybody here experienced this problem ?
By the way, my car has 55000 km on it and this is my second time changing oil since I bought it.

Thanks in advance

I haven't got chance to read the code yet.
The guy from Jeep dealer told me to drive for couple days to see if the light could go off by itself then decide to read the code or not, they charge more than $100 to read the code which I think is quite expensive.

Are you sure that you didn't knock or loosen any connector off while doing the change?
On the diesel, there's a oil temp sensor close to the drain plug.

Pull the code.

Flip to ignition from off to on (without starting the engine) three times and you should get the error code displayed on the dash. It can take several attempts to get it right.

Autoparts stores around here will also hook up a scanner for free, so you could also try that.

Does that flip key method only apply on old models only?
I tried yesterday without anything came out. I will try again. Thanks.

It should work for you. The driver's door needs to be closed, otherwise the readout will only display the open door warning I think.

It really can take a bit sometimes. Be quick, but not too fast.

I would say, it works.
This afternoon, I tried again, yes, with the door closed
Instead of coming up a code as Texas WJ mentioned, the light went off.
So, everything is back to normal now.

Thanks for all your help

My daughter's '07 Hemi check engine came on after a few days of driving it with a stumble in the performance. She went to Autozone, they scanned it and it came up oil level low, oil pressure problem. She checked the oil fluid level and it was down 1 quart after the dealer changed the oil 1,500 miles ago / 2 weeks ago. She added the quart of oil and it is running better / check engine light gone. I told her (she is in Cleveland) to watch it and if it acts up again, it needs to go the Jeeo dealer ASAP. Local gas station in PA said it might be the oil pressure switch.

It's possible, just had mine go out. It threw a permanently on "check engine" light and a "oil pressure light" at the same time. It was a cheap fix.

The light is out on my daughters Hemi now and it is running the way it should. However, with 67,000 miles on it, she has soured on the experience (and also the 12 - 15 mpg) and is in negotiation to trade it in on a 2010 Ford Fusion SEL.
