Can a diesel exhaust note sound like a gas exhaust note?
This is an odd question.
I've always owned big cubic inch gas engines with glass pack or other types of rumbling exchausts. The 3.0L CRD just has that typical diesel exhaust note. If a dynomax or magnaflow muffler is installed on a 3.0L CRD, will it rumble like a HEMI?

The 3.0 diesel doesn't have a muffler. All it has is a resonator under the back bumper. It doesn't need one because it has a catalytic converter then behind that a diesel particulate filter.I took my exhaust resonator off and it sounds a little louder when idling, but can't hear any diferance at hi-way speed.Removing it helped fuel milage a little bit. Then I took the tubo charger resonator off.Didn't notice any more noise from the turbo of which I was hoping for.Love the sound of a turbo spooling up,but still can't hear it even after removing the turbo resonator.Removing it got rid of the throttle delay and way better throttle response when passing or accelorating at hi-way speed.Between removing both resonators I have gained around 3 more miles per gallon.

Exhaust runs through the turbo and that changes the way it sounds. I love the way the exhaust on a turbo diesel, or a turbo gas engine sound.

Yeap removing the resonator does nothing...adding a muffler will do nothing either.
I know of one way to get a GC to sounds like a V8... buy another one in a hemi
Diesels arew what they are. embrace it, enjoy it, and hell show it off.

the sound CAN change, the problem is that you won't get any sort of decent exhaust note unless someone makes a muffler that is designed to enhance the sound. The turbo will muffle most of the exhaust note so you will need a tuned muffler to get anything.

Love my Diesel sound. Had to add a muffler though, it was way too loud going up a hill. Still working on my Jeep's. I'll be following some exhaust threads to see. Don't want Jeep too loud to where I can't hear my spotter.
