just an interesting piece of info. If you break your water in fuel sensor when doing the fuel filter, this one http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/more...nid=411&jpid=0 is like $75 US from RockAuto and is a Mercedes Benz part. %100 the same as what the dealer will charge $150 US for. Stamped with the Benz logo and parts numbers and all, pretty funny.

wookiee likes this.

I just replaced mine a week ago, and bought that part. I also thought it was funny how it's a MB part, and I could NOT tell a single difference between it and the OEM part!
Oh well, spending less for the same part works for me!

New CPS, swirl motor bypass, still stalls

I recently bought a 2008 GC, 39,000 miles (now 40k) with the OM642. JRA and the engine dies. Threw a code for the Crank position sensor, so changed it and did the swirl motor bypass. Still randomly stalls, and when it stalls it dies, no limp mode. Turn the key off and restarts again every time (though 1 time was a no-start with the remote starter). ETC idiot light comes on when it dies, but goes out as soon as I restart. CEL stays for a few cycles. PO335 code before I replaced the CPS. Haven't pulled the code after the last incidence. Also only getting 18-20 mpg.

Any suggestions out there?

This happened to me, I replaced the Diesel fuel filter 3 years ago and it's been fine since.

Free Filters for CRD. I recently traded my '07 Grand Cherokee CRD in for a new Grand Cherokee. I always used Amsoil and also Amsoil filters wherever possible. I have a lot of filters left over that I would be happy to give to someone who could use them. All I would ask is to cover shipping costs, or pick them up if you're in the Phoenix area. Feel free to email me. The filters are taken

Sensor

I had mine replaced about in 2012, the car simply stalled on the highway, had to get it towed to the dealer.
Tried to get it fixed at Chryslers cost, knowing that it was a known problem, but they refused.
Its a 2008 Commander with only 40k on the clock

I remember mine cutting out, I simply replaced the fuel filter the next day - problem solved!

Do what you want and keep throwing good money after bad because those idiots will just keep charging you for replacing things that don't need replacing. Problem is the Mercedes engine was bastardized by Chrysler and now neither can fix it.
The car companies that used to be Chrysler/Jeep/Mercedes Benz have lost me, forever, over refusal to address this issue. I had stayed away from Chrysler, then Jeep, products for decades, due to their terrible transmission problems which they refused to correct, but gave them another shot when MB bought them. I am sorry that I did. I was happy when I survived a hard accident & the insurance company paid off nicely, when they determined my 2007 GC Turbo Diesel a total loss.

Goodbye, Chrysler.

Goodbye, Jeep.

Good bye, Mercedes Benz.

Best wishes to all who remain their customers.

Same as the last guy, I am unable to send a PM.

Thanks!

I had a return fuel line pop out today and fuel went all over the place. Limped home and found the popped out fuel line on the passenger side. Fixed it in a couple seconds but in doing so the CCV tube touched the common rail. I saw a very very small static spark and the engine died. Chased down fuse #16 (nearest fuse bank to firewall) and replaced. Gave me a heart attack twice in 30 minutes.
