Calling all 2007 WK diesel CRD owners!

The 3.0L CRD engines in our cars have been recalled in the entire Mercedes 2007 diesel lineup as well as the 2007 Dodge/Freightliner Sprinters for dangerous stalling problems. If you have a 2007 WK and it has *ever* stalled, please go to http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ to file a complaint. These Jeeps with the diesel engine should be recalled as well, but so far it looks like I am the only one who has filed complaints with the NHTSA, even though at least a few of you have mentioned stalling issues. 4 trips to the dealer for me have yielded "No Problem Found" and Chrysler has turned a deaf ear. Again, in my opinion, you are putting yourself and your families at risk by driving this diesel engine with the faulty crankshaft sensor. Please, let's get something done about it!

Does anybody know what kind of sales numbers MB and Dodge has with the CRD engine? The recall lists 9004 MB vehicles and 6101 Dodge vehicles; is that all of them or just select numbers? Obviously at least some of the WK CRDs are having this same issue...just wondering if they think they know which engine serial numbers are affected.

In terms of US car #s 9004 is a speck. Even though there are a lot of Sprinters out there. This recall will not even make the local news. I would imagine that the recall would involve Jeep and if you wave this recall in front of a service manager they should listen.

I get my diesel next week...hopefully this has been changed on the line.

GrandDiesel... What's the production date on your Jeep? The only problem I've had thus far is the )z( [ETC] dash light. My Jeep goes into "limp-home" on the accelerator, but hasn't stalled, yet. Are there any warning signs leading up to this? I haven't had and rough idle or hard starts as of yet either.

I have been trying to find that out for some time. I think the numbers are relatively small, and that is why these havent been recalled yet. I have had stalling issues with mine and am frustrated because I can't seem to get any help anywhere, so I am turning to this board (and once again NHTSA)

Mine was made March 2007. No warning and no check engine light.

I wonder if that person could file with the NHTSA since he's not in the US.

What does Merlin say about this? I have 2007 CRD but have only 4000 miles on it. I have only noticed a couple of times it hesitated on acceleration while looking for a parking spot, slow driving

jftjim 03-04-2008 02:16 PM

Today I called the Sprinter 1-800 number--explained the recall as above and the "Gal" had not heard of the recall, she then checked my VIN---no recall other than the brakes that was done when I bought it. She said I would get a letter if mine has a recall----!!!So, you mentioned that we should do something---what is our next step??? I am a bit behind that 8 ball as I have not experienced the problem of stalling

Hi
The Chrysler safety recall number is H02 with a recall part number of CBA1H020 (looked it up) so can’t check for the same part number as in our TSB 05175763AB but suspect it is and the affected vehicles WK built before june 12 2007 XH before march 28 2007 see TSB http://www.wkjeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk_0900407.pdf if it was mine I would get it changed recall or not. The ones I have had with this fault there is no warning the engine just stops but may restart when cooled down.
Regards,
Merlin

Since the Sprinter recall is/was supposed to start on March 3, it may have not circulated through all the systems yet.

My 2007 CRD Grand Cherokee with 2000 miles on it died in traffic today with me and my 11 month old son in the car. Fortunately we were pulling up to a stoplight and weren't driving very fast. Of course it wouldn't restart, and we blocked rush hour traffic until we could get pushed off the road. Very scary. Had it towed to my local Jeep dealer and they called within an hour to say it was the crankshaft sensor, and there is a Service Bulletin out about it. My confidence in the safety of the vehicle is severely shaken, but I hope this will fix it.

I filed a complaint this evening with the NHTSA hoping to get the word out to other CRD drivers.

I am glad to hear you are OK and nothing bad happened. And thank you for filing a complaint! :2thumbsup: Nothing will be done about this unless multiple people file.

Thanks for starting this thread! I hope we can help others to avoid serious accidents by getting this taken care of before they need it.
