Just curious if anyone has used the Bwoody adjustable upper and lower rear control arms after running modified OME lifts or any other lifts and/or what the consensus was to adjusting for the rears(Rusty's or JBA, etc?) TIA
I run iron rock offroad WJ lowers and custom made uppers with heim joints at the axle. You *should* be able to run ZJ/TJ rear uppers on the back of the WK. Factory wk upper length is 16.125". Make some calls to different manufacturers and see what you can find out. No sense in paying the "WK" tax.
Thanks for the input Chance, I'll be running the SL 4 inch coils in the rear so what you've told me gives me an idea what I can do. From what I've researched the lower needs to be at 17.75 or close to that so would the upper as well?
That lower measurement seems close. The upper, i am not so sure of. I have the entire SL kit so my upper control arm mounts on my axle are relocated with brackets, meaning my uppers are shorter than you will need. Next time im under the jeep i can try and get a measurement from the chassis mount to the factory upper axle mount for you.
That would be cool, thanks. I tried contacting them(SL) to see if they would sell me the brackets and lowers separately but haven't heard back from them yet
Well when i bought my superlift i called to complain about the design of the lower control arms and they refunded my the "value" of the arms. It was over $300, so if you might as well just make some calls and buy pretty much any adjustable control arm for a WJ and come out ahead $ plus have adjustability.
As far as the upper control arm brackets go, if i was in your situation i would get a set of these and just pay someone to cut your old mounts off and weld these on. It will probably be cheaper than paying for the bolt on option from superlift, and much stronger.
Ok thanks for the advice Chance, I was really wanting to tackle it this weekend but looks like I might have to wait. Unless you think I'd be okay till they came in and then throw them on.
So a little update I was able to get a hold of a local Fab shop(Core4x4, totally cool guys) and they're making me a set of uppers and lowers that will have the adjustable end with the Johnnie joint and the other side with a poly bushing, adjustable up to an 8 inch lift, oh yeah!!!:smile2:
Right?!, Yes the price was way better, I can't complain and even better I should have them this Saturday, now I should finally be all set for my bump up in height.
