broken lift gate glass

Hey everyone I need some help. Last night my buddies 05 wk was broken into and they smashed out the rear lift gate glass. He has a $500 deduct. for insurance but he wants to know if you all know of anywhere to buy the glass cheaper so he can put it on himself. I checked rockauto for him but no luck. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Junkyard.

Or if he doesn't care how it looks, any local glass shop can probably get a crappy Vidrio or similar-quality replacement for a couple hundred bucks out of pocket.

If he wants brand new OEM, though, his deductible's going to be cheaper than buying brand new glass out of pocket. OEM glass is never cheap, and defroster grids are never cheap, and when you add the two together the list price is like $600. You can get that down to around $500 shopping the dealers with online discounted parts. If anything that attaches to the glass needs replacing too, he's easily gonna end up over his deductible.

Whether or not he wants to claim it is one thing, but if he's planning on OEM glass, he wouldn't be saving any money whether he goes out of pocket or through insurance.
