What's to come:
Here we go. I bought the Jeep used with 74,000 miles on it for $11,500. It is a 3.7L (boo) and was a 1 owner. Happily snatched it and took it to get a little dirty the first day. 2 weeks later I finally got the humming noise coming from the rear differential checked out by a mechanic. Took it back to the dealership since I still had the 3,000 mile warranty and took them 4 days to replace whatever needed fixing (bearings? pinions?) I went to the local Autozone and found Hella 500ff lights, which I mounted behind the grill. Have yet to wire them up. Removed the front airdam and am now putting all my money into some beefy mud tires.
Nice man! I know that low budget feeling! The trail grapplers should be sweet!
Looks good. I know the feeling on the low money to spend on the jeep. Also know how it feels to have lights but not have then wired up.
Would 275/70/R17 Goodyear Kevlar MTR tires fit my WK with 1.5'' wheel spacers?
It would probably work as long as you did the pinch weld.
Alright I've decided I might as well go big or go home. I'm going to go with a 275/70/R17 Goodyear Wrangler MTR with Kevlar (unless I change my mind again) Will keep this thread updated.
Just recieved my expanded sheet metal (too lazy to go to home depot) and this stuff seems pretty thick! It's not supposed to bend and form to flush with the grill is it? Because I cannot see this stuff bending. Here is what I ordered: http://www.ebay.com/itm/200828806568...84.m1497.l2649
Have you installed the load levelers yet? Just curious cause I have the RC lift aswell and my back end sits lower. I'm stuck between the wk or the longer f150 ones. I have atleast 70 pounds in my rear cargo hold at all times so wasn't sure if that would put much effect into which one
So I picked up some aweful scratches yesterday while offroading. It's been raining all day so these are all I've really discovered so far. Does anyone know how I can get rid of these?
I made a rookie mistake when i did my expanded grille and im just making sure no one else does the same thing.
Paint the sheet(s) after you cut it to size.
You could try wet sanding. There are plenty of possibilities to get that out rather than having a body shop repaint, get a dual action buffer, and some compound. Check out larry's videos (ammonyc.com)
I re-bedlined the rear step pad and wired up my hellas. I also ordered my ORT badge! Will be doing the grill mod sometime this week.
Does the expanded metal come in stainless? IMO that would be the way to go. painted or not, no rust!
