Biggn235's 05 Laredo Build

Decided to finally get things in order and start a build thread, mainly for my reference but I also like to share pictures and wheeling videos.

Purchased my 2005 Midnight Blue Pearl Laredo in the fall of 2013. I have owned two XJs and a YJ in the past, none of them stayed stock for long and this WK was to be no different.

2005 Grand Cherokee WK Laredo
4.7L V8
5 speed auto
QTII
Towing package
Cloth interior
Factory skid plates

Sent this picture to all my friends right as I drove it off the lot.

Fuel economy was pretty good back then!

Love the room in this thing! This is what $5k worth of tools looks like. Unfortunately they are not mine.

About two weeks later I ordered a 2" lift from Rough Country's scratch and dent ebay shop, 1.5" wheel spacers, and scored a set of nearly brand new JK Rubi wheels and tires on craigslist.

Able to easily fit all 5 in the back.

Started lifting the front.

And the back.

Also modified the trailer hitch so that I could squeeze the spare 255/75/17 in the factory location. And I also did the front pinch seam mod. Still need to roll the rear fenders.

The lift only took me 6 hours from start to finish. By myself with no air tools. I have lifted many Jeeps in the past and this was by far the easiest.

After the alignment. Also had to have the wheel sensors swapped over to the Moabs.

Got it home and took some pictures.

And slapped on a 4.7 badge.

A buddy has a nice camera and wanted to try out his new lens. One picture became my avatar.

Got called into work on a Sunday and decided to park like this.

Still have these in the shop. Really should put them on craigslist...

Took the WK on its first wheeling trip soon after.

Found a poor XJ.

Had a blast! The WK is definitely not as maneuverable or flexy as my previous Jeeps, but it did pretty good.

Drove around like this for quite awhile. Also added a pair of factory crossbars at some point around this time.

And bought this for only $15 to track down a CEL. Pretty sure it is just an O2 sensor causing the trouble.

As of this week I have ordered these parts-

4xGuard front skid
4xGuard antenna mount
Powertrax No-Slip locker
Receiver D-ring
Midland CB
Firestik 3' antenna/cable/stud
PA speaker
Rugged ridge floor mats
Tail light guards
SOLID cover for the 8.25
Rola roof basket
Superchips 3870 tuner

Unfortunately everything will have to wait until end of Feb or early March to get installed. I travel around the country a lot for work and I'm only home about one week every two months. BUT- these things will be installed when I get back and I will definitely be hitting the trails again!

More to come in the future.

I do too, I regret selling it every time I think about it.

Thanks man, unfortunately I don't have a lot of time to work on this one, but at least I have the money to do so now haha. Exact opposite of my previous builds while in college.
