Higher octane does not mean better mpg or more energy. It simply has a higher point at which it will pre-detonate.

E10 has 10% ethanol in it. Sort of like if your shot of makers mark has 10% bud light in it.

It sucks. And it cuts your mpg by 10% in most vehicles.

I live in a rural/agricultural/outdoor recreation area. Lots of boats, small motor farm equipment, ATV's and large grass machines. Ethanol kills small engines that are not thoroughly cleaned prior to putting them up for winter. We have several outlets for Ethanol free gasoline that all seem to be doing well. The price per gallon is higher but many think it's worth the extra money. One draw back is that the dealers are usually independents so your major brand gas card won't get it for you. Easy enough to fix.
