avg mpg going haywire and stalled

Man I love my new 2006 jeep commander 4.7L, 300 miles in, it stalls while im driving!!! not coasting or idling, driving!!!! Now I noticed the fuel consumption computer is going haywire jumps all around fairly quickly...
anyone else have these both happen?
I have called the dealership and schedhuled an appointment for friday. But the service guy claims he's never heard anything like this.
Just on this forum alone there a handful.
jeep has to do something.
Anyone got theirs fixed and then it happened again yet?
