Anyone Paint Moldings Body Color?

I'm thinking about painted the side moldings and rear tailgate section on my wife's commander body color, anyone done this? I've used the factory color in a spray on the plastic fog light grills on my 300 and that turned out pretty good, figure it would be the same?

Any paint experts have advice on the best ways to prep these plastic parts so the paint holds up? Thanks!

In the past I have had dealer paint grill only to have it flake off in a few years.
I would look into replacing its has better results, easier to do and may be close to same cost. On my WK I have not I replaced chrome side moldings with black. want to do grill and rear molding also.

if its prepped correctly and you use primer and paint made for plastic it will be fine.

Had my Commander done 2 years ago, they used a plastic release agent before painting, used same paint as the bumpers. No problem with chipping my truck is in Cardomain.

I'm interested in doing the same to my 06 GCL. I wish someone sold painted moldings ready to install. That would be worth it IMO

There's a guy by the screen name of 'Pallela' over on the CherokeeSRT8 forum, he's based in Illinois, and he sells painted side moldings. A lot of people on that forum have purchased them, and I believe most people are happy with him and his work. Check them out here.
