Any suggestions for Las Vegas, NV area off roading?

My friends and I are looking to spend a summer weekend in Vegas, staying at the downtown strip.

Last year we drove through Old Mojave Road, but this year, they want a combination of Vegas and Off Roading.

So, I was wondering if anyone can recommend any local Off Road trails within say, 1-2 hours of the strip, and any good outdoor legal shooting ranges too.

Wasn't able to find good info on the BLM site, so I ask my fellow Jeepers.

Thanks!

I would post over in the Cherokee section. I know there is a member there who lives in Vegas and does tons of wheeling. He should definitely be able to point you to some good places, and maybe tag along if you Commander people don't have anything against us Cherokee people. :-P
