Any CRD owners want this mercedes beauty cover?

Genuine Mercedes Parts Class&year=2007&graphicID=5717992&callout=1&catalo gid=2&displayCatalogid=0

This is one place I found it for 257.00
Will it fit?
Is it worth it?
I've looked one over versus ours and it looks like ours is on the cheap side..
Will it lower sound?

Is the air intake identical on the Mercedes and the Jeep?

Also there is a lot of other things I would buy for $257.

Well, The Mercedes Cover IS different. Its more substantial. It may help lower noise over ours. The hard part is going to be sourcing it out.
-Its also very attractive
I'll work on the link after work

Try this link

Likely will not work because the intakes are different.

you could be right, but I believe his cover is silver. I thought it came with the Brabus programmer, but I could be wrong, you'd have to ask. He had posted another photo, but I can't find it now.

here is a video of his oil change, the cover is visible in the opening frames.

It's painted silver with a Mercedes emblem he got on eBay.

I took my cover off and have left it off and I didn't notice the engine being any noisier. Also took the stupid chunks of rubber or what ever they are made of off. Those are nice heat traps for 1/3 of your valve cover.Didn't notice the engine being any noisier after thier removal.Probably due to the good insulation pad on the hood and on the firewall. When I open my hood I like to see the engine, which looks like a work of art compared to other engines out there, not a cheap piece of plastic. Can't imagine why AMG would want to hide thier engines with the blower on them with a cheap looking piece of plastic either. The 3.0 sure is a complicated looking diesel compared to an old 3406 Cat diesel. It just doesn't get old looking at the 3.0.

I'm pretty sure I read in a thread that the cover actually serves a purpose by keeping the heat away from the hood as it caused blistering in the paint during testing. Though I have no idea how true that is.

I have an auto engineer father in law and he said the bellypan and top cover are part of the sound deadening systems. Notice the shape of the belly pan. A few of the reviews for our engine have said our engine makes a little more noise than the mercedes. Maybe its the cover. The Mercedes engineers did NOT get along with Chrysler division btw. They did not want to share tech.

I have had the cover off for about 2 years now and no blistered paint on the black Jeep. The hood gets hotter in the sun in the summer.Good hood insulating pad. They didn't cover engines years ago and they don't run very much hotter now.The diesel runs way cooler than the gassers do also and the turbo is buried under the winshield cowel with its own heat shield.Mustly aesthetics and some quieting properties,I must say.

I keep mine on because there are a lot of places for dirt to get into. Should also help it heat up or retain heat a little better in the winter time. Plus keeping the cover on just makes it look pretty :-)

I would be willing to bet money the mercedes cover will not work.
