alignment after OME install

Hey guys, so it's been about two weeks since I installed the OME HD lift and overall I'm very happy with it. I have one small complaint, and I'd like to know if it's specific to me or if anyone else with OME lift experiences something similar: when I have the wheels at full lock (going slowly, like during a tight 3 point turn or something) I feel a slight (for lack of a better description) bouncing/popping/shifting in the front tires. There's not any noise, it just feels weird.

I know I have read around here that guys get their WKs aligned after OME install, so I made an appointment at my local dealership. I brought it in today and told them about the situation. About 40 minutes later they came back and the mechanic wanted to go for a ride with me. We get in my WK and he tells me he doesn't think I need the alignment and he doesn't want to sell me anything unnecessary. He said it doesn't pull to the left or right at all and he thinks all my work was done correctly. I had him do a few circles in the parking lot and he felt what I was talking about, but said it's because the axle is slightly on an angle now since it's lifted and that I shouldn't worry about it. Any thoughts on this?

BTW, the dealer let me go with no charge
Even though they didn't really do anything, they still spent 40 minutes looking at it and I was pleasantly surprised at the $0.00 on my invoice!

wow.... go to a different shop!

The issue you're having is caused by excessive total toe which will be fixed after the alignment. Your vehicle doesnt pull left/right because the alignment is equally screwed up on both sides.... so they counteract each other but will chew your tires up...

Ah what a bummer
Thanks for the info, I knew it didn't feel right. I'm not sure where else to take it. Maybe I'll just take it back to the dealer and insist they do the alignment? Otherwise, I spoke with another member in Chicago through the forum and he recommended the dealership by him, but it's over 30 miles away from me and I'd rather not drive that far for an alignment.

Bring it back and tell them you want an actual readout of the alignment specs. Once they put it on the rack and take the measurements they'll see how far out it is. Make sure they adjust caster/camber via the lower control arm and then correct the toe (a lot of shops will skip the LCA part).

Okay guys, I've put this off for too long...I don't know why I keep avoiding this. I was going to call around tomorrow to revisit this issue, but it got me thinking: I plan on getting some new tires in the next month or two, should I hold off until then? I guess my question really is will I need another alignment after I get new tires? I've put it off for this long, I don't mind putting up with it for another few weeks. Right now I have Trazano Su307 AWD 245/65/R17 (haha Idk the WK had them on when I bought it) and I'm leaning towards Hankook Dynapro ATM 265/70/R17. Any advice?

might as well put it off until you have the tires put on, and save yourself the trip.

I'm really just wondering if I'll need another alignment after I get new (and bigger) tires. If I won't be needing an alignment, I'd like to get it done now. If I'm going to need an alignment with bigger tires, then I will just wait a month or two until I pull the trigger on tires.

If you'd like to offer your opinion on tires, though, I'm all ears

The Hankook Dynapro ATMs are supposed to be very good tires - get them if it's already in your plans.

Alright thanks for the info guys. If I'm not a lazy sloth this week, I will hopefully get the alignment and post the results.

Go get a lifetime at Firestone if you have one by you. I take the jeep in ever 6months to get it checked or after off roading. I have a lift and it was no problem for them to get it aligned correctly.

Really? Firestone is trustworthy? Anyone else have experience with them?
