$750 worth of Coolant Demons

New Guy here...trying to figure out what to do with my 05' GC (4.7L). I have a very small coolant leak. Took it to dealership to diagnose and they said it's from my timing cover. They also said to replace my perfectly good water pump since they have to tear the front of the motor down to fix the timing cover gasket. I consider myself a fairly good mechanic and am confident I could do this myself. Should I replace the WP? Also...the manual says there is a "timing cover seal" and also a "timing cover gasket". I'm asuming the seal is where the crank comes out of the timing cover and the gasket is what needs replacing???

Anyone's help is greatly apprecited...this is my wife's ride...she is driving my "Rubi" while I fix this. I want Ruby back STAT!!!

Oh and the dealership wants $750 to do the job...CRAZY!!! I can get all Mopar genuine parts online for less than $200.

Please help! I've searched JF and found some good water pump tips but nothing on timing cover gaskets.

I had a coolant leak a year ago. We through two cans off sealant in the radiator and it has been great ever since.

First, there is no timing cover "water leak"...ask your dealer to explain to you where the coolant source is interior to this piece !! I had the water pump mounting gasket have a small leak under pressure only, not the usual WP bearing seal leak that shows up at the weep hole and is more abundant. Replace the WP yourself..easy to do. I wrote a WP DIY you can reference. My GC is a '05 and that gasket failed at 54K miles.
