40mph feels like I'm going over small bumps..

2005 Laredo 4.7

Crusing around 35-40 mph I have some weird "shutter" feeling in the jeep. Almost like I'm going over very small speed bumps until I give it some gas. Under acceleration it seems to go away.

My wife has asked me a couple times (is that the road or your jeep)....

Thanks for any info fella's!

I had a problem with my 2005 hemi where it felt like I was going over little expansion strips. It was most noticable around 35-40 mph. It took the dealer a few days to figure out it was a bad left front wheel bearing.

That shutter feeling. could be the same problem alot of people have been expierencing with the 05 Grand Cherokees, where the lock up converter is engaging and disengaging improperly, as well as the Transmission computer is having issues.

My 05 WK does the same thing at that speed. Taking it to the dealer soon, but have found many threads and posts on this issue. So far no fix.

or it could be snow or mud in your rims that is throwing off your alignment..... that happens to me all the time, i pull over, kick the snow out and the shutter goes away.

It's not snow or mud in the wheels. I'm very good at keeping the tires rotated and balanced also. Does anyone have a link to the lock up converter thread that might be of importance to me before I take it in the stealership?

Thanks!

any resolution?

Hello - i realize this thread is 2 years old, but I'm experiencing the same thing. When i come off the accelerator, it sounds like i'm going over small bumps while i coast. I've been assuming it's a transmission issue. Sounds like it's having a hard time downshifting (it's an automatic transmission). So before i get ripped off by a transmission guy, wanted to find out what yours ended up being. Thanks!
