~ 40 mph "stutter"

2008 JGC Limited, QTII
I have read about the very hard jerky sensation due to a transmission problem at around 40 mph.....there is a TSB and a reflash required.

I have noticed a very slight 'bumpy road' feeling around this speed, nothing to get really upset about. Almost like a slight ignition miss.

Is this the same issue only to a lesser degree?????
Does this happen in steps so I can expect it to get worse??

Or is it possible something else.

Advise please.

I have it too. Feels like an ignition miss. Has not gotten any worse on mine.

I have also noticed the issue, I have yet to address it, but it doesn't seem to affect anything. It is very annoying though.

I had this very same issue in my 08 Hemi with QDII I believe they both have the same transmission, 545RFE. I have a max care warranty and dropped it off at my dealer last week. Quick diagnosis to a failed torque convertor. 9 hour job later and I have a new torque convertor. The repair bill was around $1000. What you are describing is the same issue I had and is commonly described as the Hemi shudder. If someone can confirm that the 4.7L has the same transmission I would say you have the same issue.

The tsb was never applied to the hemi for some reason. (Same transmission, although programming may be different.)

The tsb for the 4.7 adjusts torque converter lockup speeds and gears. What we are feeling in the 4.7 is the torque converter locking and unlocking raplidly at about 40 mph.

I think I'm getting that too, kind of a slight shudder, for a minute I thought it was small bumps in the road. Modernblue, did you get the TSB done?

"Bumpy Road" is exactly what I was referring to.

I don't want to believe that the torque converter is bad, but would like to hear from anyone who has succesfully addressed this issue.

AND, did anyone have the TSB done to address this issue??

So far, I'm going to live with this .... I have a trip to Florida planned for next week.

Sure would like to know what the dealer Svc. Dept would have to say.
IMO, Jeep should do the flash for $00000000!!!!
Why should they charge for their problem??

I think you might be double screwed if you want to have that flash done .
I believe if you take it in now you will just get the latest calid file which will include the N23 recall .

EXACTLY my concern.
I have not and do not want to have the N23 update done, but I expect that if I get my Jeep in the shop they will have to perform ALL safety updates regardless of my wishes.

So, I guess I will have to sit on this for a while.

Any other advice?????????...................

The 40 mph section I drive is very short less than a mile so its at the bottom of my list. I want to get the superchips with trabs tune so im hoping their trans program might improve it. I do not want the n23 recall either. My dealer i go to had trouble replacing the rear shocks in my wifes durango. Do not trust them to do it right or in a timely manner.

I have the same issue on my 06 5.7 Hemi. Feels like a light shake around 40 MPH. People suggest the TSB fix, but I haven't built up the nerve to get it done.

Has anyone had this problem and actually had the TSB flash fix it?

I'll be going to the dealer in the near future to get a key cut/programmed. I'll mention that TSB and see what happens. Not planning on the N23 update either. I do have a power train warranty but I'm not sure how far that'll get me if I decide to go w/ this TSB.
