2007 vs 2008 CRD

Is there any real advantage of a 2008 over a 2007 or are they pretty much the same? Was there any improvements on the 2008?

Lots of changes on the '08+ models. Most I find worthwhile. I love the HID lighting, the revised dash gauges and controls, the rear seat heat, AC inverter, and better MyGig system. Everything you want to know can be found on this site: http://www.wkjeeps.com/2008_intro.htm

like sickchilly mentioned there were added and adjusted interior and exterior features that are improved but specific to the CRD version the guts of it - engine, trans, etc are the same as far as I know. If i could have had an 07 and 08 sitting beside each other when i bought mine I probably would have went for the 08 but I am still happy as a clam with the 07 we have over 104k miles.

The actual CRD engine and its components remained the same.

08 WK came with a facelift and interior changes. Projector/HID's and rear seat warmers are NOT a 2008 CRD thing, they are the Overland thing.

I have an 08 CRD and i dont have projectors.

The easiest way to tell an 07 vs 08 WK is the front bumper. the 07's have the fog lights much higher, inline with the "fat" part of the bumper while the 08's have them lower.

Thanks all, I am looking at both but there is an 07 with 84,000 kms so about 50,000ish miles. Options are nice but I was more interested in drive train.

My 07 only had 45000kms when I bought it last year. Most 08's I saw had close to 100000kms so I chose the 07 as the price was less than most 08's.

Not sure if that was a question on drivetrain but I believe most CRD's by default have Quadra Drive II (QDII) 07 or 08. It's effectively one of the best drive systems the WK's had. Search and you will see the differences. An 07 with that few km/miles is pretty amazing but would check the service records in detail on any vehicle - particularly the CRD - low miles could be for a bad reason.

I looked at many CRD's that had Qtrac2, ended up with that system on mine too. QD2 is not as common as most seem to think on CRD's.

Mine is an 08 with 51k miles on it. Bought it earlier this month.

Mine also does not have HID's, it's a limited.

Not sure if it's most, but my 2008 CRD only had Quadra-Trac II. One of the many long list of reasons I traded it.

It seems like most 07s had QDII but there were a lot more QTII CRDs in 08. My 07 Limited CRD has QDII.

Either year is a good diesel jeep. There are about 3 mod's you may want to do to avoid issues.

You can put lockers on a QT2 truck. There is someone with an XK that did it, then installed a QD2 front axle with a manual ELSD switch on the dash, lol.
