I have been searching and reading and am really confused. I emailed BillletTechnology and this is what they told me: Unfortunately we do not have a setup for the 5.7 jeeps only for the 6.1 and they use the z bracket, we do have a catch can where you can buy the standard set up, you would just need to find a bracket and hoses to make the application work as they connect to a PCV unit.
So, with that said can someone please tell me what I need to get and if this is a good idea? I assume it is from what I read but i'm really confused on what I need to get, etc.
Thanks in advance, i'm ready to order everything and install it asap after I get it but i'm just not sure what I need- if this is not a good idea on a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 5.7L Hemi please advise me on that too, thanks in advance.
I bought the one for the 6.1 from them it worked fine on my 5.7. I used the Z bracket it came with fit great. Follow the ins sheet you will be fine. These photo's are not great but, should help you.
Hope I ordered the right one now... I panicked and emailed them and then emailed them back telling them I do believe I ordered the correct one after all and explained it to them. I ordered the one for the ST8, is that the one you ordered? I hope the hoses are the right sizes etc. But if it's the one you ordered I should be good!
Hopefully my emails won't screw them up now.. ugh.
This did help, did you have to buy anything else besides the can with the z bracket or does everything you need come with it? It looks easy enough just wanted to make sure i get the right thing and it's worth getting. I bought the vehicle used and I want to take care of it- it's an awesome vehicle!
I didn't see you are in MI where do you live? I'm in Waterford. If your close come on over after you buy I'll help with the install if you like. Just get the hose's as well you will be fine. I'd get a new PCV valve as well.
Easiest way I can put it is this (and hopefully someone else can chime in better than I however...) it keeps from gunking up your engine. The Hemi engines have issues with this or that and from everything I read if it's the only thing you do this is a mod that you really should do.
Anything that helps i'm all for! I even bought some seafoam now too! Although a little nervous to do the full clean because of sucking into the the vaccum line etc - Catch Can looks easy enough and once I get mine I will be installing it asap!
You should be fine with the one for the SRT8. That is the one I have. I left the cover off. It looks good but, I like the look better with it off. It might work with the cover on, you might have to cut a bit off to make it clear the c/can. Let us know how it goes after you get it.
I wonder if I installed off the back if the cover would have to be cut... i'll have to look into it a little more. I'd rather not cut the cover and just keep the cover on. Wonder if anyone else has installed one and kept the cover on.. curious.
I have mine installed... the cover is very hard to put back on though but I think it's on good enough. I'll try to take pictures later. Thanks for the help/suggestions/pictures.
Ok, it looks like there is one hose going to the back of the manifold just out of the picture. What is it that the hose connects to. On my hemi it looks like there is a twist on cap on the top.
I ordered a catch can that came with a filter on top. I used the can without the filter and all good, put the filter on and boom Error code P0507 "idle speed to high" or something. Anyone ran into this issue? I dont mean to hijack the thread but figured its active and on topic.
I removed the filter and returned to a closed loop set up and the error code is gone. I think the filter was allowing too much airflow and thus the idle was higher than the parameters allow and I got the code. With the closed loop system the idle rpm is back down within the normal range. I figured more air was good but in guess not in this case.
Exactly which can is in discussion here? (Specifically looking one for 5.7L hemi), it looks like this can will work but I just wanted to make sure before I buy.
Threat from past but to confirm, if I order the BT van with z mount for srt8, it will fit my 5.7 ok? I have aftermarket intake so have more space to play with but as I'm in UK, I want to ensure I order the right one. Thanks
I used an L-shaped shelf bracket (~$1.50 US) instead of ordering one. It is mounted horizontally (foot downward) to the rear engine cross-brace tower bolt. You have to drill out (i.e., enlarge) the hole for BT attachment bolt.
As you locate it, remember that the bottom is unscrewed to drop and empty it so allow room for that. Mine is on the RHS rear, behind the shock tower and inboard of the PCM in the open well space. Not sure what differences exist with a RH drive vehicle. This arrangement also allows me to re-install the engine beauty cover if I so choose. Route the hoses around the little plastic attachment tit.
Ok thanks, i will have a look when it stops raining here (gotta love an English summer). I have less space than most around there though as running a second PCM / ecu plus valve seat lubricator that are both mounted there. Also need to fit water / meth injection somewhere which is why I like the look of the z bracket as know there's space there but says it's SRT specific
Just use the Mishimoto catch can. It's baffled with a micron filter, less expensive, built very well, and has a drain valve on the bottom so you never have to unscrew anything unless you are cleaning it up.
I forgot to mention, the bottom drain valve was extra. You could probably get one at a hardware store but I just got it off amazon because I didn't want the hassle. If you don't want the drain it works by unscrewing it like the other ones.
