after a lot more research I decided to just upgrade the speakers. Seems like the reviews of the Kicker upgrade are mixed and I can get better sound quality for the money with aftermarket speakers. Decided to go with Polk DB351's in the dash, DB651's in the rear doors and Boston Acoustics SC95's for the front woofer/mid range. These 3 pair will only cost about $300 which is cheaper than the Kicker speakers. I can add a different amp setup down the road along with a head unit. See what this gets me first. Going to do sound deadening in the doors too, while I have the panels off
