2006 Commander Limited Crate Motor

It finally happened Wife's 06 Commander Limited with 240K radiator failed on the highway before she could safely pull over the motor over heated, when it finally starts rough idle and knocking it is pushing exhaust through the cooling system. So I figure either head gaskets or cracked head figuring in cost to do the job and miles on the motor probably will drop in a crate motor.

I have been looking around and find re-manufactured motors with all kinds of length of warranties, we plan on keeping the Commander long term everything else is in excellent shape and she is happy with the size and capability. Anyone have recommendations on where the best place is to purchase one? I plan on doing the work myself I would appreciate any ideas and suggestions.

Thank you

+2 on Jasper's. Worth at least getting a price from them http://www.jasperengines.com/index.php

But be a lot of $$ to put into a vehicle that might bring $5-7k after. Be worth looking around to see if there is a nice lower mileage one as a replacement.

Trying to keep it as plug and play as possible I am not familiar with the 392 Crate is it a direct swap?

I am seeing Long Blocks for around $3500 with a 3 year warranty, the issue with looking for a replacement is that the Commander is paid off and not really looking for a payment at this time.
