2005 wk total transmission failure

So i'm looking into buying a new vehicle for my wife and i came across an 05 wk 4wd with a 3.7. I'm not super interested, but the price is pretty cheap. The owner says they hit a pothole and the transmission just quit all at once and had to be towed home...no gears whatsoever...

i'm an xj/wj guy so i don't know a lot about these, but is there a possibility this is something simple? i tried digging around a bit but couldnt find a definitive answer. should i just walk away since the tranny may have grenaded itself?

filter could pop out of the seal and there is no pressure check for codes it would show low pressure code other then that nothing is simple with transmission

get a 48'" zip tie and stick it down the transmission service tub on the left side next to the firewall to see the color. should be red. but it does sund like the filter fell out. there is a youtube vid on how to service the nag1 tranny. just warning they are very picky on the fluid level. if you decide to droop the pan, capture all the fluid, mesure it and out the same amount of atf4 back in.
