2005 WK hemi w/ 545rfe transmission Issues

I need help! Just bought this 2005 WK and having issues already.

When cruising at 40 mph, the car shudders from the transmission. As well as when accelerating the car pulsates as it speeds up. I read around similar forums and the problem occurs between 2nd and 3rd gear. However i cant tell if its a sticking valve solenoid, the torque convert ( Lock up), or computer issue.

Any insight to this problem would be great.

It's not between 2nd and 3rd, it's 4th and 5th and it's due to their EMCC operation combined with inferior torque converters. NO fix ... They will tell you it's "normal" behavior. Have the same thing on mine. They replaced the TC and I still have the issue. Good luck!

I'll add some of the research I've done online with this issue below.

EMCC sounds like the issue. I cant believe the dealership wont offer you any kind of fix. Its anoying as hell, and must be bad for the transmission. Reflashing doesnt make much sense to me in the case that what they reprogram the computer with is the factory specs that were already in the computer to begin with.

Ive thought about getting a higher stall speed torque convert, such as the ones they offer for the drag racing enthusiasts as well as an aftermarket TCM/PCM? What are any thoughts on that idea.

Im taking the car in on monday to have a chrysler trans tech look at it. However i doubt they will be able to fix it , from all the stories ive heard.

^^ that's exactly the road I'm taking. I have an aftermarket TC on order from aps precision manufacturing in Cali, and am probably going to buy a flashed TCM module from bgperformance whenever they decide to get back to my emails or voicemails I've left. Terrible customer service from them so far IMHO.

BTW I don't really blame the dealer. They did everything they could to fix the problem. When they couldn't fix it they called Chrysler's Star team who then told the dealer to stop working on it because it was an "engine hesitation" . At least they didn't charge me for the work they did.

True. I still got the 70,000/7 year powertrain warranty on mine. so im hoping to bring it in under that.

Are you still driving around with that shudder?

As well as keep my posted on how the new TC and TCM upgrade goes?

I looked at the Torque converters from that company, and like what i see. I think im going to buy one as well. Im also pumped at what they state on the performance apsects to upgrading, Closer tolerances sounds promising to get rid of the current lock up issue, as well as firmer lockup and stall.

What stall speed did you order?

To be honest I don't remember what stall speed I ordered. I *think* it was a 3k RPM but don't quote me on that. I'll have to wait for it to get here to be sure. It was supposed to be here today, but with I-5 being closed much of last week it's probably going to take another week at the least. You can call up APS and talk to Wayne. He's the one who set me up with it. I can't confirm that it'll fix the issue, but I was planning on replacing the garbage TC anyway so I figured why not shoot for the moon.

I was also looking at a shift/valve kit for the tranny. That would improve performance as well. The hemi in these Jeeps is a very powerful and robust engine, but the drivetrain and transmission loss is unacceptable IMO. You have a 300HP engine maybe putting down 240 AWHP. Don't quote me on that either I haven't been to a dyno yet, but my butt dyno says less than 250 AWHP.

As I install the TC and TCM I'll let everybody know the progress. I'm *hoping* to have Chrysler put it in for me and save me the labor, but I really doubt they'll be up for putting aftermarket parts on.

Chrysler states that the hemi puts out 330 hp @ 375 Torque, Its a dam shame that all those horses dont get to the wheels.

where are you looking for the Aftermarket Valve body?

As well as does the new TCM you ordered, claim provided so called firmer shifts?

One more thing. I have a feeling the check engine light is gunna blow up once that new TC is in. Have you looked into that?
