Well guys the radio in my jeep finally died it was the stock radio without navigation. I want to put in a double din radio but the console around the stock radio is not big enough. I have found the bezel kit online for $120 but has anyone trimmed theirs to accommodate a double din radio before? Or is there a place to purchase the bezel kit with navigation (bigger hole for radio) at a cheaper price.. The reason why I ask is because the wiring harness is $120 because this keep has the inline amp so the normal $20 harness will not work.

Also is there an easy way to determine if your jeep has an inline amp without removal of the driver side rear quarter panel to see if the amp is actually there. Can the vin number be ran to determine if it has the inline amp in this model jeep?

Do u have BA speakers?

If not u don't have an amp
If u do, then u most likely have an amp...

If you have the Boston system:
1. The front door speakers will not reproduce highs.
2. You'll be able to see the amp's silver cooling fins through the vent in the rear quarter panel.

If that doesn't leave you feeling certain, go here and open up the "Optional Equipment" section. You'll need to create an account (which needs the last 8 digits of your VIN) if you don't already have one. If you have the Boston system, you'll see:

Yes been reading up on that now the question is the Bezel in general. My bezel is for the factory stock radio not the navi unit. So i am having to locate a Jeep Grand Cherokee Navigation Radio Bezel Kit 2005-2006 Khaki Part Number 5JN311J8AO..

These are expensive puppies and I seriously thought about just trimming mine to fit but not really for sure how that would even look. All custom radio installs places tell me that it looks horrible when you cut and trim the normal bezel.

Consider just crawling craigslist for another or better stock radio. After 20+ years of being around jets, I can't tell the difference between the jeep stock radio and the fancy radios with the high install drama.

Go on craigslist and search the auto parts section for '2005 cherokee', then '2006 cherokee' and up. I also used 'chrysler radio' and 'dodge radio' as key words.

i got a stock radio laying around... you have to wiggle the aux port to get it to work but other then that it works perfectly not one scratch at all on it... if your interested

Thanks for the offer on it but that is the reason i decided to move away from stock radio after this one decided to stop working. I decided to upgrade to an aftermarket radio that has bluetooth options, and HD radio and Sat radio.

If you have the in line amp yes the harness is $120 but if you purchase the radio at crutchfield website they sell the harness for $65 to you half off but the normal harness is $20 bucks depending on if you have that amp built in
