Hello, I have a 2005 Grand Cherokee Laredo. 4.7L V8. I am experiencing a musty odor coming from my A/C vents when the air is on. We live in a pretty humid climate and I think the drain is clogged, but I cannot find the location of the hose to check it. Can anyone point me in the right direction. If you have any pictures, that would be great as well.

Have had the same problem for years on my 2005, only in summer and only when left sitting for 20mins or longer, smell quickly goes , but unpleasant for 1st 30 secs. Very interested on replies .

Try Turning the Vent on at a moderate temp, before you directly turn the A/C or Vehicle off. Condensation build up in the vents and starts to smell...
Just try to air out the Vents before you turn the car off.... try it!

Don't know if that made sense....
You know what i mean though?

There was a TSB out about this, I forget which one but its on WKJeeps.com. They stated that mold builds from the moisture around the A/C coil and this causes the odor. Dealer should take care of it

I checked the TSB and called a local dealer regarding it. They want 250.00 to perform the TSB. Should this be covered free of charge, or is that only if it a recall?

An AC expert once suggested spraying Lysol spary in the outside vent while the ac was running-several applications. I never tried it so I don't know if it will work.

The Lysol Spray worked for a few days, but it doesn't appear the A/C is draining underneath the car. Mymain concrn now is trying to make sure the drain isnot clogged.

Youy might have to access the Evaporator Box to get to the Drain.... that why the $250 quote.... probably all labor.... and they are a b*tch to get to.... most the time...

Dealer will not pay for tsb only recalls also u probaly do have mold it will dry out and go dormant but to get rid of it all the way u will need to take it out manually try getting a borescope and checking through your vents
