Done!

In the end I ended up spending well over 60 hours on this project. It was worth it though! The paint does not match the Jeep exactly, and I did some damage to the paint as I was installing it. But then I realized that this bumper was made to take offroad and get beat up. I'm sure when I hit up the Colorado trails this summer it will get plenty of scratches. So the paint flaws are really a non-issue. Someday I plan on doing a complete repaint in the NATO sand paint color available on the new JK's, but that is years down the road. So the current paint will do for the time being.

My next plans, in no particular order:

Painted grill and door handles
4xGuard belly, rear, and front skids
4xGuard sliders
Custom rock rails
new dash tweeters to replace the blown Kicker ones

Yeah, I've had two ZJ's and thought the 5.9 was the sweetest Jeep I'd ever own. That was until I saw the AEV Mojave concept and decided I just had to build one!

Hopefully someday! I'd love to throw 2 JK D44's under there. The problem is how the computer would deal with losing its wheel sensor inputs to the traction control/roll mitigation system. I know there are others out there talking about it, I'm kind of waiting for someone else to be the guinea pig. I hear Saguaro 4x4 might be working on it too. That or maybe someday when the WK is not my primary means of transportation I wont care if I have a bunch of warning lights and inoperative systems.

Thanks. I was in Corpus Christi, but now I'm stationed in FL. I'll probably be back in TX someday though.

Gotta say I was a little nervous about how it was going to turn out after seeing some of the welds, but your body work/paint skills look to be very solid. What did you shoot the paint with? Did you clear it as well?

Yeah... I've pained 5 or 6 vehicles but the welding has been a learning experience for sure. I have a new gained respect for people who are good at it! Yep, its clear coated. And I actually shot it with rattle cans... I have access to a HVLP system and will probably borrow that or just buy a high pressure gun to repaint it. Yeah, I already have to repaint it. It turns out PRH and PRJ are different colors! They are listed as the same paint code as far as touch up goes because they are similar, but on an entire panel the color difference is obvious. Its the same for all of the trim I painted also. Oh the joys of painting
