08 liftgate won't open at times

I searched around and only saw threads on the liftgate glass problems and the senor problem but mine will just not open at all sometimes. It has happened several times now, the first was on a really cold day in winter so I shrugged it off but now it just decides to not open some days. Anyone have this problem? I think it may have something to do with the locking mechanism. Would appreciate any input. Thanks.

Might be a good idea to hit the latch mechanism with some lubricant.

I had to put a new lock/latch mech in ours. Took about 20 minutes and $80.00 later it has been fine ever since. Your lucky its working a little. Ours crapped out when the wife got home with a full load of groceries from Wallyworld.

Like pyroman said.. I would try to hit with some wd-40 to free it up and then a day or two later give it a good shot of white lithium grease to keep it from happening again.

If that doesn't work you need a new latch.

I will tell ya it not for lack of lube on the latch. It has everything to do with the solenoid that goes bad that will not actuate when you try to unlock it. I hope for your sake the lube works but if it doesn't and decides to stop working altogether then it a barrel of monies setting in the back taking the interior panel off with the door latched. There is a small square panel that you can flip open and try to access the latch to flip unlocked with a screwdriver.
