07 CRD strange noise

I was at the car wash waiting in line, the jeep was in Park and every so often we could hear a clunk sound. Almost sounded like it was in the exhaust but 100% sure, it would do it once every 2mjns or so. Anyone else ever hear their crd make a noise like this?

Yes, mine will have a random clunk when just sitting in traffic. No idea what it is!

Well, I was out doing routine scan on my CRD today. I was just idling in the drive way and everything was very quiet. Sure enough.... I heard a soft clunk now and then. About once a minute, sometimes twice. It sounded like it was coming from somewhere on the passenger side under the hood.

I too have not idea what it is. No codes. No malfunctions

Is it the climate control doing its thing? Mine makes the odd noise.

I just noticed mine do this last night while I was trying to get the pesky uConnect cleared out as it warmed up. Kinda seemed like it was from under the floor near the passenger seat? But from memory there's nothing down there.

To me, the noise sort of sounds like a vent slamming shut, sort of a soft whump. You don't notice it unless you are sitting very quiet.

There is something down there.... the fresh air vent door is located right behind the glove box. I think the "blend door" is down there almost in the middle of the console but off to the right a little.

So it could be the climate control doing its thing....but it seems too regular for that.

Yes!!! That is where I'm hearing mine also. I don't know if it's the exhaust piping or what?

Does the DPF make a noise when turning on or off?

There's nothing in it to turn on or off. It's just a big catalytic converter.

No, it is just a pipe with an expensive filter inside of it. Made of platinum I think.

Well, I thought so but yesterday I listened carefully again, this time with everything shut OFF and the noise is still there. How can it be the blend door if the system is off?

Plus.... mine makes the noise about every 15 seconds. It is very faint, but it is there.

I was thinking if the air blender door is vacuumed controlled .. it may make noise as the vacuum pressure bled back down.

As for the DPF if it was on and super hot I was wonder if it made any noise cooling down?

Just some thoughts.

Update on mine, it will make the noise when I'm taking a sweeping corner at highway speeds(55-60mph), or when turning on a ramp(20-30mph). It has to be the exhaust. I need to get under the jeep and check it out.
