05/06with 100k. To many miles??? Looking to buy!!

Hey guys. So tomorrow I'm going to be looking at a couple 05/06 grand Cherokees with about 100 K on them. I wanted to know was that too much of high mileage for these kind of jeeps. It's the only ones I can afford in my price range and I just want to make sure that is not a lot of miles for these kind of jeeps! I don't know how long the Wk last. Thanks

Theres a guy with 400k on his just depends on maintenance

I guess I should add I've spent more money on mods than maintenance only thing that needed done was a leaky front axle seal and replace a battery that was 7 years old

That and regular maintenance like spark plugs, plug wires, oil changes, air filter

Ive had leaky trans lines and pan since I bought it
Parts are sitting on the bench not in any hurry to do them

Also the recirculating door actuator failed but again no big deal and typical of any car

Im at 97000 or so

I bought mine with ~140K on the clock. 2005 bought one year ago. Driveline, electronics, and most everything else have been trouble-free, with the exception of the rear diff. oh, water pump needed replacing, but I was going to replace the coolant anyway!

if you can find a solid one they are great, trouble-free rigs. unlike the japanese makes, there's a wide variety of 'quality' out there... keep searching until you find a good one! purchase price may not be indicative of future repairs.

What's the price? 7-8k is where it should be for the 3.7.

Never know. Mine had to have the oil-pan replaced for leaks and the transmission worked on for leaks. Oil pan was at 15K miles or something, and the transmission was baind-aided until I bought it and had it properly fixed at 68K miles or so. QA/QC sucks on Jeeps, but the fundamental design of them is not bad regarding the hardware. I think it comes down to luck of the draw. Monday vehicle, or not, basically.

i bought mine with 66k, have 137k on mine now- i have to agree with keeslinger, ive spent more money on mods than i have maintenance on this thing. i have to add im pretty indecisive in my mods so ive gone through quite a few stages. i would not shy away from an 05/06 with 100k, just be good about the maintenance and she'll last awhile

I would try to stay away from a first model year as a general rule. Most of the bugs are worked out by year two.

I just bought an 07 WK Overland 5.7. Got it from a Lexus dealer where my son works, so we went over it completely. had 98k on it, one owner The only concern so far is the drivers window auto up doesn't work properly and wont take a re set. I will take the panel off and clean the contacts. If that doesn't help, maybe a switch or a regulator.
So far I'm enjoying it. Just hard to keep my foot out of that HEMI !!!

bought an 05 WK 4.7L V8 Limited in February of this year with ~75k miles. Nothing major needed to be done *knock on wood*; just maintenance stuff.

-Mobil 1 oil changes
-Front/Rear diff fluid and transfer case fluid change
-transmission fluid and filters changed
-Installed new magnaflow exhaust and resonated exhaust tip

Looking for new General Grabber AT2 tires for my Jeep now, but so far I am really liking it and has been very reliable to date. Next thing I will probably have done is the tires, coolant flush/change, front/rear shocks & struts, and probably spark plugs and wires in the next ~15k miles. I say go for it if the maintenance history is not a terror. I was lucky enough to have a 1 owner Jeep I bought from the Mini dealer in my area and went to the local Jeep dealer and all the maintenance history was there on record for me. Needed nothing major done to it and that is how I am looking to keep it! Just have to keep up with the maintenance so it does not get out of hand and you should be good!

I'd be more concerned about first model year (05) than about 100k miles. 100k is still young enough for you to start treating it right and baby it out to 200k.

Do a thorough search and don't exclude the blessed Hemi, which doesn't use much more gas than the little engine but will definitely put the grin on.
