Howdy from the High Sierra!

Howdy everyone,
I've been offroading for over almost 40 years, motorcylces, a 1960 Volkswagon (with the fenders removed), dunne buggys etc., then in a Toyota 4WD, and for the last 17 years in a Ford F-250 4WD with BF Goodrich ATs (great off road tires!).

Finally got some good sense and bought my first Jeep in August of this year, a 2005 Unlimited. In all my years on rugged, remote backroads, I've only seen 4WD trucks and Jeeps (never a Hummer) , so the choice was easy. Would have gotten a Rubicon, but...well you know, wife and two teenagers, couldn't quite afford it. This Jeep is my DD as well as a weekend off road vehicle all rolled into one.

I'm lucky enough to live in the middle of one of the greatest off roading areas in America (90 miles south of the Rubicon Trail), a high desert-mountainous, remote area of North Eastern California located between Yosemite & Death Valley with dozens of outstanding trails within minutes of my house.

I've already taken my LJ on several hardcore trails (pure stock and yes, the stock tires suck) and I'm quite impressed with the performance (I only wish it had lockers and locking hubs).

Lots of Jeeps in my area and everyone waves! The Jeep wave reminds me of the "Volkswagon wave" from the early 60s when hardly anyone had one and you ALWAYS waved at another Volkswagon driver.

Can't wait to lift her a little bit and get some decent tires on for some serious off roading.

There is a Cal4Wheel event this weekend at Panamint Valley.

Should be lots of fun, and stuff to be given away.
Check www.cal4wheel.com for a link to the event.

Lots of trails. Everything from mild to wild.

Welcome to the forum.
