Marking Forum as Read, made easier?

Other sites (starting with P) using the same software and owned by the same company as JF allows you to double click the main icon for a forum (a green tire-wheel here, vs a black tire-wheel for 'nothing new') to mark that forum read. Can that be added here? The only way I know to mark a forum as read here is use the Forum Tools pulldown.

can you tell me the site you are referring to and I will see if this can be added here? JF was highly customized so its a matter of seeing if we can make it work without a conflict in the software.

Pirate4x4 used vBulletin 3.8.6. Each forum has a skull-crossbones icon where we have the wheels, green bones for read, white bones for 'something inside is unread'. If you double click a white bones, it marks inside threads as read and turns bones green. You don't have to enter the forum to mark everything inside as read, very handy.

This is what you are talking about! I get it, will see if this is a plugin or a default setting.

The only difference between these sites right now is JF is on 3.8.4 and P is on 3.8.6

My only small worry is with installing plugins on here with is so highly customized they may not always work.

Only difference? You forgot the attitude, need more body armor over there... ... but yes, thats the double click I'm talking about.

I click on the 'Mark Forums Read' every day when I'm done reading here on the main forum page bottom, but next time I come here, most of the threads are not marked read still, so I end up seeing all those and new ones too. Is it just me or ?

Soon, I have a laundry list of other things we have been working on fixing on the site. I like the idea of adding this plugin and have not abandoned it.

I'm not sure of your answer as all seems to work for me. I wanted to reply to mention that this site seems about as quirk-free as I have seen it in years, especially with respect to the read/unread functions.

One of my favorite things to rant about in the past was the a ridiculous setting that said, "Mark the whole site as read after the guy is in JF, but walks away from his computer to take a crap and/or get a beer, and hasn't been back in 10 minutes." I'd get wrapped in an incoming e-mail for a few mins, get back to JF, and all is marked read. I'm really glad thats fixed/changed.

I for one think the current admins are doing a great job in keeping up with issues, thank you.

I agree it seems all good to me as well, but with me its just the one little quirk, but its pretty annoying as I can never tell what is new or not

Hmm, I can't figure out why sometimes when I hit the 'Mark Forums Read' button it works, and others times (read: Most of the time!)... it doesn't work...

Any news on this? I can't imagine negative interaction with other mods to the site.
