I run a 32s with a 4.5" lift and it doesn't vibrate at all. I think if I upgrade to 35s and some bushwacker flares, then I'll need to do some driveline work. I hope that answers your question.

Tire size shoudlnt cause you to all of a sudden have a vibration... The angle of the driveshaft doesnt change

so no one has any vibes with a 4.5" lift? what are the major mods you have to make with a lift that size?

well this is a cherokee thread. they are much less susceptible to driveline vibes compared to a wrangler. an SYE is generally needed above 3", sometimes less, to fix the problem though. but every jeep is different and may or may not have vibes

its for my dad. he has a 98 xj and wants to put 33's on it without doing too much trimming. the jeep came with a rc 3" lift but he was looking at the 4.5". i knew that anything over 3 pretty much on a tj needed a SYE cuz i've been there done that. but i didnt know if it was same for a xj. also will a MML fix vibes?

nope, hes gonna have to get a sye/cv setup to get rid of vibes over 3 inchs. a mml would only lift the engine up in the engine bay which would be sort of rediculous.

The rough country web site doesn't list an sye option for the 4.5" kit. However, if you go up to the 6.5" then the option comes up. I have heard from some XJ guys that you don't really need to worry about sye or anything on an XJ until you get up to at least 6" or so. No personal experience here. Just info that i have read and what I have heard. Hope it's helpful.

actually a mml straightens out the drive line because raises the front of the front drive shaft and lowers the rear of the transfer case. i have a 3.5" lift on my tj and had vibes so i put a t-case drop on. wanted to get rid of the drop and vibes so i got a mml and no more t-case drop or vibes.

However, it is a lot more weight and momentum that these little axles are spinning around. I'm not saying it will absolutely make a difference, but it most certainly can add to drive shaft vibrations.

That's the way I understand it. I ordered my 4.5" kit yesterday and should have it installed this weekend. 33's will be sitting on it too. I'll give an update with pics once I'm done.

i drive mine daily with the RC 4.5 full kit with no SYE. i have the txfer case drop installed that comes with the kit and the full packs have degree shims installed on them already. the only thing i really need to do next is regear! 3.55's suck with 33's!!
