XJ 4.5" lift on 33s

I got the 4.5" lift and getting 33s in the mail. Hoping they will fit without trimming until I get the fender flares in a month. HELP!

they should fit without much trimming. We tested my buddies 33's on his XJ with only 2" of lift and that was a lot of trimming, and he gets his 4.5" lift in a week. I wouldn't worry.

i have a buddy with a cherokee with a 4.5 inch lift on 32's he jus trimmed the flares and not the fenders and he doesnt have any bad rubbing, so im sure if you did 33's with fender trimming you'll be ok, if you get like 2 inch spacers and longer shackles or blocks in the rear, you can get away with 33's without trimming much, but then again i think you'll need longer control arms, so really you have to decide between going higher or hacking your fenders away. heres the best pic i could get of my buddies cherokee.

Trimmed a little. It's on 34" LTB's, but they only measure out at 33.6".

I'm trying to stay away from trimming because I'm getting Bushwacker cut out flares in about a month and if I cut too much they won't fit anymore ya know. So trimmng the fender is a no no til the flares.

If I took off the stock flares should that help? Until the new cut outs that is

not really. and it's pretty much impossible to cut out too much. bushsmackers are huge

Well I like BMXxXJ trimming it looks real good. It just usually I think the trimming looks bad. Should I just stay away from the Bushwackers and trim like BMXxXJ did

I was just getting them(cut out flares) to give me more clearance from the 33s when off roading

personally ive seen people who have trimmed and made it look really bad, BMXxXJ's is actually one of the best fender trimming jobs ive seen, i would wait till i got the fenders before i trim, because like you said if you trim too much then the fenders dont fit, and since youre already getting the fender flares might as well jus wait till you trim, what you could do which might help a little is take off your stock flares, that should give not much but a little bit more clearance

My 33s wouldn't fit real well with just the 4.5" of lift and trimming. Though my BS was 3.75 and the tires are 33x14s. Wish I had taken a better pic of it with the lift and no trimming.



Heck even with the trimming my back is close to hitting the fender lip at full flex. I don't have swaybars either. Here's a pic after trimming.

thanks buddy, personally i think i could've done so much better. i'm still making some minor perfections. sometimes having an eye for detail is a curse

Heres mine right after putting on my RE4.5. Had to do some very minor trimming at the bottom of the front wheel well. It rubbed when i turned.




And here it is after I got the BWs on. Plenty of room now

Also jeepin ruby! Are those 33s in the first pic? Or are they smaller cause you changed tires after the BS flares and wanted to make sure the ones in the first pic are 33s too

Here's mine when it had only the 4.5" lift on it. Rubbed a little at full lock I just trimmed the flares and hammered down the small pinch weld on the body. During flex is a whole different sotry tho.





Sorry I thaught I had a regular picture I guess not. hopefully it still helps.
