Ive got 305/75/16 mtz's on my no lift 2000 sahara. Trimed the flairs up like the bushwacker flats, and have been off road. Only rubbing was in the plastic liner in the right rear wheel well. This was on a washed out rocky logging road.

I wanted to do lift first but tires were used and a good deal. Also I cant make up my mind on what lift I want to go with.

Safe, yes.

No matter what, if you change your suspension height and tire size you need to check your bump stops to make sure your not going to bottom shocks out or put a tire threw a fender before the bump stops stop the axle.

The best way to do that is to remove the springs and set the jeep on the bump stops, if something makes contact before your at full bump, stop, and add more bump stop.
