well after that day wheeling (see pics above) my water pump went bad, i dont know if it was due to the water crossing or because it was original pump... 12 years! other than that nothing really, one thing i lube the steering linkgage and water squirted from a couple of grease thingies

Radiator and exhaust

had another buddy do the same and buried his dodge up to the hood and pooched his transmission, carpets, amp, crossover and subs

i love rookie wheelers that dont listen when you tell em to check the water first

as for the how do ya know depth...get out and walk it if ya dont like trackin mud and water in your vehicle get some hip waiters and toss em on the roof rack when your done
That sounds reasonable. I wonder what would happen to your radiator if water reaches overthe bumper and make its way in there?
Some buddy told me you could have your exhaust underwater as long as you keep a constant rpm, I guess you could only do that with a stick, right?

Actually its harder with a stick. You can stall and hydrolock through the exaust. Auto just leave it running. Ive seen some water shooting out of exausts by the gallons.

All these pictures are great and I love seeing a Jeep used but you must have money to burn. I know I couldn't afford to take a brand new Rubi thru that and take the chance of ruining a motor or frying the electronics in it. I like a water crossing myself but that could get expensive FAST!!
They wouldnt make a wrangler thats not made to get wet. Everything under that hood is water/air tight except for the alternator and intake box and even then you have to spray water directly on or into both of those items to mess them up. They even raised the tranny and axle vents on the JKs. So no...it wont get expensive fast.

i wish i had pictures but i took my yj through at least 100 yards of water that came about half way up the doors, and that's with 4"s of lift and 33s. it got to the point i started to worry about my comp and other electrical components.
