I just did mine yesterday..wish I saw this thread before I did mine because I was looking for it and never found it. Anyway, mine came out fine, used an exacto knife and heated the blade up between cuts and it really cut right through the plastic nice and smooth. Started to rain on me so I haven't got to sanding them down and painting them. Thats todays project, but here they are right after being cut. Cut 1.5"

Looks good. I just finished mine and it took about 45 minutes. I'm happy with the results, too bad I can't share pics with everyone else. I guess I'm too much of a newb, oh well i'll post them on WF

I think you need a certain amount of posts before you can post pictures. I couldn't at first either. Better get posting! Hah, I don't think its that much.

All these pics looks really good. I'm inspired to do mine once I jump up to the 33's.

What is the best way to do this modification? I plan on doing this soon and would like to know what you all prefer to use when doing this and any write ups on how to do it would be helpful as well?

Here's my buddy's TJ trimmed after we took them off and painted them:

Side note: Avoid taking them off unless you absolutely need to!! It sucks like a cheap hooker! My arms looked like I had been digging around in a rose bush by the time we were done. I would rather replace a headgasket than take these damn things off again (which coincidently we did on his jeep this summer)

I don't have any pics real close, but I measured off and then cut it with a dremel, and cleaned all the crap off of the edges with a razor blade. Came out nicely.

Pretty sure we just used a box cutter. And a couple band-aids
