TJ on Metric Tires

I would like to see some of your jeeps on metric tires (close to 33's). Angles would be good and a front on shot so we can all see the stance and footprint. And why not some wheeling pics as well! Thanks y'all!

Well these are actually 315/75r16's but they are worn down enough to be close to 33''...

LT285/75R16 . . . Goodyear claims that these measure 33.1 inches in diameter and 11.3 inches in width . . . I'm running spidertrax spacers

305/70/16 on the spec sheet for these tires, that comes out to 33.5x13
Nankang Mudstar Radial M/Ts. Not a bad tire for the price.

and here is what they look like under 30" of muddy water

I like the 285/75/R16's. I have 32x11.5's right now and I like the width and stance, I just wich they were a bit taller so those 285's seem right on!

Isn't sidewall flex a desireable trait in a trail rig?

yep 305/70r16 are 33" tires (roughly) so are 285/75R16. 285's are a little skinnier and a tiny bit taller. 305s are 10mm wider, and just a bit shorter.
reading metric tires are easy, the first # is the width of the tire in Millimeters, the 2nd # is the percent of the first # measuring the side wall so:
285 is the width and 75% is 213.75. thats the length of the side wall on one side, so multiply by 2 = 427.5 then convert to inches (cuz most of us are in america!!) = 17.1 then add the diameter of the rim (16) =33.1

ok 305 x 70%= 213.5 x2 = 427 converted to inches = 17.08 add the rim =33.08
