Synthetic or not

hey anyone having problem with clogged oil filters? twice now. first time caght it in time. second time blew the gasket. just gettin her back together do recommend regular or synthetic oil? and a preffered filter or is there something else i can do? i change oil 3,000-3,500 using regular oil. 37,000 miles of that was delivering mail. anyone have any suggestions? thanks
