i took a cutoff wheel on my grinder to my front bumper. it makes all the difference just to cut it, but it's even better if you take the rubber/plastic bump things off the front too.
here is a close up of just one side, but you can see where it was cut....

I cut my front bumper about 9 months ago. Keep meening to hit it with some paint...someday! I ended up leaving the square rubber bumperettes on since I have after-market tow hooks that stick out beyond the leading edge of the bumper. Would rather bump my leg on the rubber than the tow hook!
