Jeep was the daily driver for about 7 years... Finally retired it when I was spending enough on maintenance to justify a second car payment... Now strictly a desert toy and maybe when the weather is particularly bad as we sometimes get flooding out here.

Toyota 86 aka Scion FRS aka Subaru BRZ is the new week-day daily driver:

And this is the weekend daily driver

Lol I remember seeing those on Top Gear. They parked them next to each other and you couldn't tell the difference besides the badges and a few small details.

Yep... all built in the same factory... my Toyota has a ton of parts on it stamped "Subaru".

Outside north america it seems to make little difference between the two - The Subaru and the Toyota are both available in high spec, but if you want low Scion spec then Toyota has that too.. apparently the Toyota has stiffer sportier suspension settings... but you should really choose based on the service and support network or waiting list... out here in the Middle East, Toyotas are sold in huge volumes, Subaru's in low volumes, so take the Toyota because the spare parts and service network is so much better.

In north america, the Scion is stripped to base spec while the Subaru is high spec... if push button start, dual zone AC, HID lights etc etc matters to you, you need the Subaru. If you want a cheaper simpler car, you need the Scion.

Quite unusual to have two separate companies offer virtually the same car, but it's a damn good car

Actually found the '59 Cadillac here in Dubai.

A while back I bought an '82 FJ45 Land Cruiser Pick Up and started fixing that up. Started hanging out with the classic car club and then met the guy that used to own my Cadillac. Wanted one of these since I was about 9 years old. Still have my 1:18 scale model. Told him if he ever sells it, I want it. Became good friends, helped him out. 2 Years later he leaves to Canada and I buy the '59

Looked like this when I got it...

Since then, I've upgraded the lighting, and the wheels and tires are now custom made extremely rare (mfg says maybe 10 sets on the planet) 18x8 wire wheels in the original Cadillac style, with a high performance radial whitewall.

Up next... air conditioning, air ride, brighter lighting on the rear end, and disc brakes

There's growing classic car community out here though... and the '59 is proving to be quite popular. Since getting mine, a few more have joined the club.

Blue one was bought online. Green one was bought here from someone else.
