Because of the family/pack grouping I doubt that those coons are rabid, but it is possible. A lone coon in the daytime, on the other had, would make me VERY wary.

Yea I was wondering about the pack grouping but its still weird to see them in the daytime and it is even weirder that they didnt move for a while. One time I saw a red fox in the daytime that was standing on the shoulder of the road and he stared at me as I passed him, backed up to make sure I saw what I saw, then kept going. He definitely had rabies

It's not a long trail, but it goes down to a creek that has a trail running along the creek (which doesn't show on the google maps link below). However there is usually no one around here, so you are on your own and it's a great area to camp and plenty to explore. The Continental Divide is nearby and in winter Highway 70 is closed (I use to snowmobile over it as a kid). Ask me for more details if you are interested.
