DO IT!

I'm giving serious thought to rat rodding my 75 out rather than rebuilding it.

I'd like nothing more but over here in Australia we can do very little to our vehicles and get licensed. Example: we can't have exposed wheels so there goes the one thing that looks to be the first on the agenda for building a RR. Sucks badly here for fun stuff like this

A few more I've recently found.

Sorry for quality. Direct uploads are size limited pretty small and quality suffers.

I'm not sure how long rat rods have been around, anyone have any ideas? Today I found this photo from a holiday at Club Med in Phuket 1992. Depending on when jeeps first got "ratted" this may even be one of the first! Yes that tub is wood!

between moving and winter/holidays i havnt been getting much work but heres my little update

i lowered the frame infront of the firewall down alittle to get the crossmember to lay like the frame does, i also stretched it 3" and widened it 6"overall(had 2" spacers on each side before.)
also removed the motor mounts and build a motor plate

also worked on installing fenders, got the insides trimmed to fit, still need to do the outsides to follow the hoodline to clear the tires but want to get the cowl hood finished so i dont have to cut the fenders twice

I have a DJ5 I was going to make into a ratrod. I really like the right hand drive set up for the ratrod but liking the CJ top and tub. Might have to reconsider ratting my other CJ or YJ

PM me if anyone in the PA NJ area interested in a DJ5M for their ratrod project. Ill try and get some pictures and post it in the classified section as well.

Guy in my club who does alot of fab is building this off a Willys truck cab (now topless and chopped windshield). 4 wheel drive rat rod on air bags. 38.5" boggers in the rear. 36's in the front i believe. different gears front to rear to make up for the difference in tire size. new crate motor. full hydro.

not up and running yet. picture was just after placing the body back onto the frame.

its 90% finished though. basically just wiring, bleeding fluids, upholstery etc.

motor has been running on a motor stand and sounds awesome with just the headers with internal baffels dumping out next to the doors.
