Hey all, could you just explain the process of sanding the wheels. I do not have any experience with paint in general so that would be a big help.

I used a wire wheel first(fine)to take off the corrosion than i used a green scrubby to knock off the gloss than painted them ,make sure you take your time and do a real good job on scuffing them up that will determine how the paint job will came out and last.

Basically you just need to rough up (lightly scratch) the clear coat on most wheels. By doing so it gives more surface area for the paint to stick to. I used a Brillo pad to do mine. Also if it hasn't been mentioned I'd wipe it off with some rubbing alcohol to remove the dust. And then make sure its dry and go for it. I think I used 3 coats on mine.

I didn't get any pics of these wheels before paint but they were nasty rusted chrome MRT Daytona 10/15 18 bolt true beadlocks.Bought the whole set of 5 off ebay for $300 shipped.Had the rings powdercoated "farmer orange" for $25.The rims I painted with plain ole gloss black rustoleum right over the chrome.About $10 in rattle cans.Got $335 in a set of 5,when new ones are about $250 a piece!

I should mention I did end up repainting with POR15. 99 percent of the paint was still there after a full winter, just wanted something thicker

You did an awesome job man. Are those wheels Eagle alloys?? Those are the wheels I have and after seeing these I may do that to mine.

I liked it be4 it was black.. I'd understand if they were all scuffed up and stained and all but those looked like perfectly clean Eagle alloys...

Don't touch them!!!

That is the best look ever. Everyone has black wheels (no offense). But the beadlock ring (simulated or not) painted to match the vehicle looks very pro.
If you did ANYTHING else, you'd be excused in doing the centers black but only if you kept that beadlock ring matching.
