That thing looks terrible but probably gets insanely good gas mileage for a Jeep.

Probably not as it's "over geared" and would be running high RPM's on the HWY.

The many Cherokee's I've driven have all had automatic transmissions with an overdrive (or else a 4cyl with 5spd)....would that not keep the RPM's down with smaller tires? Could be that I don't grasp the physics. Seems like every "gas saver" I've ever owned or run had pretty tiny tires.

I think we should just drop this, "putting small tires on a Jeep" subject before one of us hurts our brain. It's just wrong to even think about it!

Agreed. If I'm misunderstanding the physics of gearing vs. small tires I'd like to understand it. If you're in the know please PM me or hit me up a link. I'm searching it right now.

***Disclaimer: I'm not actually planning on doing this.

annnnd back to the topic...

This was over in another thread and I think that it qualifies as SCARY without a doubt:

It's a DJ or "Postal Jeep." I always wondered about the way the grill extends past the hood. Now I'm betting they were looking for less of a hump in the floor to interfere with the postman and just slid the engine forward.

Thought the DJ's had the 7 openings on the grille like other Jeeps but I see from further research that it varies between 5 and 7 depending on year. DJ-5A's have 7 as I recall which is what I have more personal experience with.
