And for the record - your Jeep is one of my favorites on Jeep Forum. I wouldn't be too unhappy if I were you.

$2,000 for lockers
$700-$1000 for installation
$400 for gear sets while youre in there.
$900 for a used 241OR or 4to1
D44 Vs. D30
so on and so on and so on.
Exactly why guys like myself bought the Rubi. I Pd $17k for mine with 55k mi and $12k in goodies.

Thanks
I know I got a good deal. 2 years ago I paid $23,000 for my 2006 Rubicon (rubitrux - paid for some novelty there) with 21K on it and the PO never had it in 4WD... didnt even know how to get in 4LO or engage the lockers . It was a CA jeep so it was rust free, had lots of nice aftermarket and had never been offroad. I paid for the piece of mind knowing that it wasn't owned by some idiot that beat the hell out of it.

Right on. Not to mention exclusivity.
Everyone that says rubis are a bad deal if you plan serious upgrades, forgets about the 4:1 case. And no a Teralow isn't the same at all.
Plus you have better parts to resell if you do go to 60s or bigger axles.
I paid $21K for my rubi but for that I got everything I WANTED!
Impact Orange, Automatic, LJ, Rubicon, both tops low miles. One owner every maintenance record since new.

Yeah - that peace-of-mind is worth a lot. I got mine in a similar condition: some soccer-mom traded it into a Jaguar / Land Rover dealer with low miles, having never seen dirt. California Jeep, so no rust either. Bone-stock mall crawler. Both tops, near perfect condition.
And the dealer didn't know unlimiteds were worth more than standard TJs. So it was priced well below market. Which probably means they screwed the soccer-mom on her trade in.

You know, I've never really cared what anybody else paid for their Jeep/car/home/wife/etc. When this topic comes up, I kinda figure:
1. It's their money, so it's none of my business.
2. If they bought it, they can afford it, so it's none of my business.
3. If they can't afford it, they messed themselves up, doesn't affect me, so it's still none of my business.
4. Belittling them in any way based on my opinion of something that they did...with their money...that's none of my business...will only make me look bad, not them.
I'm just glad they're spending their money on a Jeep instead of other things, like rice burners, hummers...
Hey, anybody got any pictures of LJ's around here??

Just purchased an 06 White Unlimited this past weekend. Looking to put a 4" Long Arm lift and either 33" or 35" Tires.

You know I've never really cared about what you've never really cared about.... that's the beauty of a public forum people can talk about what they want to within reason
