I did the install by myself. Total install time I would say was a good 15hours over 3 days. I took my time and had lots of beer breaks. Plus my jack is crap so I had to use that along with the stock one, and my tools are in dire need of an upgrade. I did use spring compressors which I can honestly say, saved me huge and were a complete pain in the *** at the same time. If I never have to use them again in my life, it won't be too soon! lol.
My only real issue was not being able to get the rear track bar lined up enough to reinstall after having to remove the bolt to get the rear driver side spring in. Ended up taking it to Big O Tires as I needed an alignment anyway so they put the bolt back in for me too.
Overall it wasn't hard, just very time consuming and tiring then anything. I soaked the living bazeezus out of the rear upper shock bolts (well everything really) with PB Blaster as I was so nervous those rear bolts would snap on me but they were fine, no trouble at all.
On to pics:
first spring in place with compressors still on
Drivers side done!
Wife helping me with the rear compressors. She'd never done anything on a car before and wanted to help (and to be honest i was sick of the conpressors! Lol but she was fantastic, i think i finally turned her into a gearhead! ) so I was showing her how to remove them, and no transfer case drop needed!
Finished product!
Before comparison

I don't see why people are so down on Smittybilt - it's done very well for me over the years. I've read many complaints about fitment & powder coat - both are excellent on mine. The coating has held up to tons of abuse, still looks good, and installation was a breeze.
I knew it wasn't top-of-the-line when I bought it, but it was what I could afford.

I wasnt drooling over the bumper but the jeep in general (specifically the long arm kit he has). The bumper question was an after thought. I know they are a budget bumper, i have the rear smittybilt and it has been great for me. I dont see why they are knocked so much either. Just because they're made in china? What isnt!??!!?!? Lol. Spending $500+ on a bumper just isnt in my budget.

Your jeep is beautiful - Im not knocking your Jeep or what you can afford to buy. I dislike smittybilt because of personal experience with their products.
Beat the hell out of it so you can upgrade

Dude I apologize I didn't mean to sound like I was dissing your bumper. It looks good and your Jeep looks awesome. It's just funny when it seems someone is drooling over what is considered a "budget" bumper.

Thanks for the compliments, I'm really happy with it (the Jeep). It's finally at a point where I'm going just about anywhere I want to go. We had a lot of fun in Calico this weekend.
The Smittybilt has been good to me, but in time I do want to replace the bumpers and steps/sliders with something lighter - maybe something aluminum from Savvy or Genright - haven't looked very closely yet. But yeah - need to beat the hell out of these first so I can justify replacing them - want to get some of that weight off the Jeep.
When I bought them (the Smittybilt side steps / sliders in particular) I knew they would hang lower than most, but I had 2 small kids to load into the Jeep. Now that my kids are getting bigger I don't need such a low step.

Because the JF masses would have you believe that once you install anything with Smittybilt stamped on it your jeep will explode into a fireball and take out babies and puppies with it...
Some of their stuff is fine, some is junk. I beat the living crap out of my front tree finder... I mean bumper with no ill effects. Do your research and get what works best for you, ignore the yes-men.
