It's an alloy folding step commonly used in the marine and RV industry. My LJ originally came with a hard top so I assume the original owner had a roof rack or something that he needed access to.

I still like the 04 soft top better than the late model ones. The side windows look cleaner to me without the horizontal fabric bar thru them.

Thanks, I am happy with the trade. I had to go almost 500 miles away to do it but it's worth the 1000 miles of driving in two days.

Yeah that's about how far I went for mine too. Its so worth it though as a good LJ is hard to find these days. Good luck with it.

When I bought my 83' CJ-7 I drove from Charleston, SC to Columbus, OH and towed it back on a U-haul trailer with my 2007 Tacoma 4x4 quad cab. It was kind of grueling driving through the mountains towing one of those heavy-*** aluminum trailers which I think weigh ~2,000 lbs unloaded. However, with my LJ, I flat-towed it with my Tacoma back from Pensacola, FL to Charleston, SC and it was a much easier (read: flat terrain) trip.

This was my CJ-7 that I sold to pay for my LJ:

I will erase the pic if it is inappropriate for this thread.

Cheers

Kinda a sad day yesterday. I went and got the new jeep put in my name but my personalized tag was already taken. I have had: MY YJ, MY TJ, and MY WJ. MY LJ was taken so I had to settle for LJRUBI.
